About Northwest Log Homes
Our primary goal at Northwest Log Homes is to exceed expectations. With a combined experience of over 50 years in woodworking and construction, a commitment to quality and highly-specialized knowledge, you are assured of a log home built to the highest standards.
Our dedicated team is led by Master Builder Dwayne Keim who began his career as a young Amish bachelor in 1992 framing both houses and commercial buildings prior to specializing in log home construction.
Working in the West Kootenai community of Rexford, Montana Dwayne learned the process of milled log home construction. During this time, he had the opportunity to work on a couple full-scribe and saddle-notched log homes and was intrigued by the highly sought-after technique of this somewhat forgotten art. Dwayne’s apprenticeship for eight years gave him the knowledge and skills necessary to venture out on his own.
Thus, Northwest Log Homes was born in 2000 from Dwayne’s determination to craft log homes of the highest quality using traditional techniques. We can provide log home kits and full turn-key packages designed to meet your needs for the log home of your dreams.
Dwayne resides with his wife, Linda, and their six children in his own log home nestled in the woods of the Percell Mountains.
In addition to undertaking the necessary specialized log work, our unique experience also enables us to perform much of the finished carpentry that is commonly sub-contracted. We pour our own foundations and cement work along with applying spray foam insulation to the roof systems with our own equipment. This keeps costs to a minimum in addition to ensuring your home is built without the common delays involved in accommodating contractors’ schedules.
Excavation work, plumbing, and electrical work are sub-contracted to local professionals with whom Dwayne has personally built strong relationships.
Interior and exterior doors and cabinetry can be done by Dwayne’s experienced brother-in-law who is close neighbors to him and lives near our log yard.
All our railings and log home furniture are crafted exclusively in the West Kootenai by Montana Woodworks, owned and operated by dedicated Amish workers.
Many of our customers take advantage of this close network of professionals to keep their project running smoothly, on schedule and very cost-effective.
Working alongside the honest and hard-working Amish folk ensures a pleasant experience reminiscent of the value of personal responsibility represented by a handshake in days gone by.
This community approach to the building of your log home has proven to provide a low-stress and highly rewarding experience in contrast to many modern building projects.
We strongly encourage you to tour several of our finished homes, read our testimonials and chat with previous customers. We look forward to building you a log home that surpasses your expectations while building a friendship of respect and trust that will continue long after you move into your new home.
